Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday presented the August 1 Medal to three military servicemen and conferred an honorary flag to a military battalion for their outstanding service ahead of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

27日，在庆祝中国人民解放军建军95周年之际，国家主席习近平向三位军人颁授“八一勋章”，向获得荣誉称号的单位颁授荣誉奖旗。

Xi helped the individuals wear their medals, presented them with certificates of honor, and took photos with them.

He also conferred the honorary flag to award a model ground-to-air missile battalion of the PLA Air Force.

China on Sunday launched Wentian, the first lab module of the country's space station, from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site on the coast of the southern island province of Hainan. The module has entered the planned orbit and the launch is a complete success.

7月24日，我国空间站首个科学实验舱问天实验舱在文昌航天发射场发射，顺利进入预定轨道，发射取得圆满成功。

As the second module and the first lab module of China's space station, Wentian consists of a work cabin, an airlock cabin and a resource cabin.

问天实验舱是中国空间站第二个舱段，也是首个科学实验舱，由工作舱、气闸舱和资源舱组成。

It is mainly used to support astronauts as they remain in orbit and carry out extravehicular activities. It is also used to conduct scientific experiments in space, and can serve as a backup to the Tianhe core module for the management and control of the space station.

问天实验舱主要用于支持航天员驻留、出舱活动和开展空间科学实验，同时可作为天和核心舱的备份，对空间站进行管理。

On Monday at 10:03 a.m. (Beijing Time), the Shenzhou-14 astronauts opened the hatch door of Wentian and entered the module, according to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).

With two years to go from the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, organizers on Monday revealed "Ouvrons Grand Les Jeux," meaning "Games Wide Open," as the shared slogan for the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.

在巴黎奥运会即将迎来开幕倒计时两周年之际，巴黎奥组委25日公布了2024年巴黎奥运会与残奥会的口号——奥运更开放。

"It is an invitation to the world to come and experience new emotions together. Our Games are the commitments of new experiences and big thrills," the organizers said.

“这是一份向全世界发出的邀请，来共同体验这次全新的激情，巴黎奥运会注定将给人们带来令人振奋的新体验。”巴黎奥组委表示。

The Games is scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11 and athletes will compete in a total of 32 sports encompassing 329 events, and among these sports, breaking will make its Olympic debut.

巴基斯坦季风雨致357人死亡

357 killed as monsoon rains hit Pakistan

At least 357 people were killed and over 400 were injured as heavy monsoon rains continued to batter Pakistan for more than five weeks, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said Thursday.

巴基斯坦国家灾害管理局28日说，过去五周多以来，强降雨在该国持续引发洪涝灾害，造成至少357人死亡、400多人受伤。

Besides human loss, infrastructure, road networks and houses have also been damaged due to the heavy monsoon rains and flash flooding across Pakistan since June 14, official sources from the NDMA told Xinhua.

新华社援引巴基斯坦国家灾害管理局官方消息称，除人员伤亡外，6月14日以来，季风强降雨引发的洪涝灾害还造成了基础设施、道路、房屋损毁。

A total of 23,792 homes have been fully or partially damaged, making thousands of people displaced, according to the NDMA statistics, adding that the heavy downpours have also damaged dozens of bridges and shops.
